spiritandsword: (A Little Sad)
When the Lighthouse and the Cottage came back, that meant Annja came back, too, since she had been inside the Cottage when The Nothing had taken it. When she found herself back, still with weapons in her hand, she let them drop onto the shelf and she stepped back.

That would be when she realized that she needed to sit down as her entire body was a little shaky. When she saw the piece of paper that said Remember, she swallowed hard and then closed her eyes.

She remembered the life she had here in Fandom and how much she loved it. She remembered Garin and Roux and everything that had happened to her since she met them. She remembered all of the worlds she had been to and all of the people she had worked with before the Sword came into her life.

She even remembered Kristy and Doug.

Afterwards, when she felt her mind was tired she reached for her cell phone and sent a text message.

Sean? Sean, please tell me that you're all right.

If she came back from non-existence only to find out that he had been hurt she didn't know what she would do.

[[OOC: This would have been posted last night, but migraine and meds knocked me out.]]
spiritandsword: (Default)
It will be posted as soon as I can get the laptop, the Internet, and livejournal to work at the same damn time. Unless one of the TAs are around and would like to post movie. Today Annja was going to talk about Elizabeth I. Sorry about this. I have had nothing but system issues the last two weeks and today bring holiday mucked up me posting from work. Also trying to do the whole class on phone would be too difficult -- though I did ponder it.
spiritandsword: (Head On Hands Pretty)
It was early and Annja was the first one up, but she didn't mind that. It suited her, actually, gave her a little time alone to gather her thoughts for the day.

She sat on the couch in the living room, mug of tea in her hands. It'd been good to see everybody again, even if she was waiting for Garin or Roux to pull some stunt. It was like them to wait for the best -- or worst -- possible moment before springing something on her. But that was part of their charm, in a bizarre way.

Annja was pulled from her thoughts when the door to Savannah's room opened down the hall; she smiled when she saw it. She hadn't expected Savannah to be the next up.

"Morning, Savannah," she called.

"Uh... not Savannah," came a voice.

She boggled. "Garin?"

[For Garin!]
spiritandsword: (Default)
Annja didn't have even the smallest trace of a hangover when she opened up her office for the day.

She got out some notes and was ready to be cheerful or demure for whatever parents showed up today to talk to her about their students.

For the record, she would even refer to her class as Women's History instead of the real name. Better to shield her students from parental disapproval.

She had been a student not too long ago, after all.

[[OOC: Oh so very open.]]
spiritandsword: (My Girls Out Of Character)
I may be more flaky than old paint the next few days.

As some of you know, I work at NASA and have for the past few years. Right now, we're going through Fiscal Year End closeouts. This means that everyone panics trying to get their POs costed and trying to get their budgets balances so that their cost pools get more money in the next fiscal year. I work in the finance department. You see where this is going, yes? Everything comes through us and that makes for a lot of work, stress and exhaustion.

Please be patient with me if I drop threads or forget something? It's three days until YE and things are CRAZY here.

This affects (effects?) Annja, Cassidy, Chloe, Gwynn, Phoebe & Savannah (I so need an OOC icon with all of my girls since Cassidy is not on this one)
spiritandsword: (Looking Pensive)
Annja was in her office working on the subject of Friday's class.

The problem with this was she kept going back to the phone messages she had been left that stated Roux and Garin would be here this weekend. The problematic thing being was that Roux wanted to see what kind of class she was teaching. (He was still so dman amused that was a teacher here.) It was a good thing that she had already done a class on Joan because who knew what those two would try to add into it?

She could always use distraction from the thoughts of her pseudo family coming to the island and her class that wasn't getting written.

TA? TA!

spiritandsword: (Annja Is A Bad Ass)
Annja is going to need a TA or two for her class. You know, just in case Year End with budget issues kills me she ends up hanging off of the side of a cliff again and not able to get to a portal to get back in time for classes.

If interested, just comment here. Comments are screened and the RNG will pick people for me.

Annja would like to add the disclaimer that being her TA probably will not keep you safe from being hit on by her adopted "father" and "brother" if they visit when they find out she's teaching.

There were pancakes and all kinds of other things going on in the kitchen of the Lighthouse Cottage this morning.

Annja and Sean were awakened early and were both making up breakfast for their four daughters that were having way too much fun running about in the cottage and exploring the Lighthouse.

"Shawna and Stana, don't go up those stairs unless Dad and I are with you!" Annja hollered from the kitchen. "Jenna, no, I did not quit college, yet. Psyche, how can you eat five of those things at a time?"

[[OOC: For the husband, the kidlets and anyone who wants to come visit.]]
spiritandsword: (Default)
Annja had never realized how hard it would be to keep Garin from actually carrying through with his offer to kill Sean's mother. However, if Sean's sister would refrain from giving Garin new and interesting ideas about it, it would be less of a headache for her. She was beginning to see why so may people always developed drinking problems after this weekend every year.

She supposed that it was a good thing that Savannah was happily engaged as Garin had already expressed to Annja that he would love to take her to bed for a night. "Or a weekend."

Annja was proud of herself for not hitting him and hoped that Sean hadn't heard that.

"Why does she have to meet me, again?" Annja asked Sean, trying to ignore the flirting Garin was doing with her sister-in-law.
spiritandsword: (Working Out)
Annja was busy unpacking books and putting them up in the room of the lighthouse cottage that she had designated as office/library. There were two desks in here already, and she had finished getting the bookcases moved in and set up this morning.

Had the bedrooms been set up at all? No. Had any of the other rooms been set up in any way? Not really.

This would be why Sean, being a very smart husband, had decided to make a trip out for food since he was doubtful she would remember to eat anything until at least this room was set up to her own standards.

The door of the house was open and there was music blasting as Annja worked, so if you wanted to visit or see who was moving in you'd probably just have to come inside to say hello. It was highly unlikely that Annja would hear anyone knocking.

So both Roux and Garin had arrived sometime this evening and she really was surprised that they had managed not to kill each other. Apparently, they were trying to work out some sort of truce since both of them were determined to be there for her graduation.

She thought they were perversely amused about the idea of playing her family and watching her graduate high school for the second time in her life. It wasn't as funny to her.

She had stopped by Sean's room and now the two of them were outside of Roux's hotel room where they were meeting both Roux and Garin. She gave Sean a faint smile and knocked on the door.
spiritandsword: (Laying Down)
The brood was, in a word, exhausting. There'd been oh so much activity going on and the kids were only now getting exhausted enough to be quiet. Sean and Annja had finally managed to herd the kids back to the hotel -- with a brief stop at the origami towels -- and now everybody was sprawled out in various places in the room.

There were sleeping bags and air mattresses littering the floor, courtesy of the store. Accordingly, there were little girls scattered around on the floor... except for Jenna, who was rummaging through random dresser drawers to entertain herself. Annja briefly considered telling her to stop, but she was too tired to muster up the energy. Sean could stop her if need be.

Gingerly stepping over a child, Annja collapsed onto the bed.

[For one and their brood!]
spiritandsword: (Rogue Angel)
Through gathering evening, Annja ran.

Not so much for fear of her own life. To her own surprise she felt little concern for that. Rather, for her mission. The thought that her mentor might have labored half a millennium to find the sword, and to find a new champion, only to have his labors made futile by such men as these made her blood boil.

Sadly, Being Shot At Was Something She Would Have To Start Getting Used To )

Once she was safely down, she reached into her back pack to see if her cellphone was still working. Relieved that it was, she slipped into her pocket and started walking along the streambed until she could locate the road she had seen from up on the bridge. Once she got to the road and managed to get a lift with a farmer, they headed to the main town. Once the towers that meant phones would now work, Annja made first a call to Roux to tell him that there had been trouble with mercenaries at the village and that Don Felipe had been killed. After he assured her he would take care of the situation, she dialed another number. Once that call was done, Annja climbed out of the truck with her backpack. Heading for one of the places that had a bit of shade, she sat down, taking her first aid kit out of her bag. After she cleaned up her injuries as best as she could, she once more opened up her cellphone, dialing a number from heart.

When the voice on the other end answer, she let out a breath of relief. "Hey, Sean, It's Annja. I need a fast and safe ride home."

[[OOC: Shamelessly copied and then cribbed together from the first chapter of Rogue Angel Book #2, Solomon's Jar, by Alex Archer. This would have gone up last night I fell asleep earlier than normal.]]
spiritandsword: (Running)
On long tanned legs Annja Creed ran through the hardwood forest. Rays from the sun hanging precariously above the great mountains slanted like pale gold lances at random between the boles. They caressed her sweaty face like velvet gloves as she ran through them.

Despite sweating in the heat, she breathed normally, dodging thicker stands of brush, crashing through the thinner ones. Late-season insects trilled around her and in sporadic spectral clouds tried to fly up her nose and into her mouth. The birds chattered and called to one another in the trees. The woods smelled of green growth and mostly dried decayed vegetation, not at all the way she imagined a true rain forest might smell, lower down in the Amazon basin proper. Up in the watershed of the Amazon's tributary the Río Marañón, in eastern Peru, the early autumn was drier and cooler, the growth far less denser Her heart raced as much as any person's might have after running at high speed for overtwo miles, up and down steep ridges. It had little to do with the exertion, though.

She ran for her life.

There Were Many Reasons That Annja Wasn't Fond Of Mercernaries. These Were Several Of The Reasons. )

[[OOC: Shamelessly cribbed together from the beginning Rogue Angel Book #2, Solomon's Jar, by Alex Archer. This would have gone up last night I fell asleep earlier than normal. Part #3 of this chapter of her adventure will be going up in a few, as well.]]
spiritandsword: (Rogue Angel)
It started with an early morning phone call on Tuesday from Roux telling her about a manuscript that he was pretty sure would lead people to an artifact that they had no right having access to. He also stressed how much damage could be done by these people if they -- in other words she -- didn't get to it before they did.

It followed with her making a few phone calls and heading to the mainland to catch a plane.

[[OOC: And thus begins Annja's Book 2 adventures! NFB due to distance. Not for interaction, but OOC is loved like pie!]]
spiritandsword: (Looking Pensive)
Annja was sitting crosslegged on her bed, skimming the news on her Usenet groups and puzzling over the phone message Roux has left her earlier in the day.

"You must learn to accept what is beyond your power to change, child," Roux had said. "You cannot save the world."

She really wasn't sure what that was supposed to mean, but he had also e-mailed her some links that she thought she should check out. The more she read on the newsgroups, the more she realized that she was probably about to be led by the sword and Roux on another mission to save something from humanity's history.

She wondered if Sean -- or any one else for that matter -- would be interested in taking a trip to Peru with her...

{{Door and post are both open.}}
spiritandsword: (Angry)
This was not how she had planned on spending her Saturday -- afternoon or evening. She had no idea where these damn annoying things had come from, but she was tired of them.

The thing is, these little bastards had been expecting her to be easy to overwhelm, and then she had pulled out her sword. Even when she started hacking and slashing at them with her sword, they kept coming.

That would be why she showed up at Sean's door, bleeding, annoyed as all hell... and probably glowing from the fighting like she usually seemed to do.

[[OOC: For the boyfriend/husband person.]]

I was given a rename token and after a lot of thought, I used it on Annja's journal. I had never been happy with her username because I just didn't feel like it fit her. However, it was what I could think of at the time. *smiles*

However, her username has now been changed to [livejournal.com profile] spiritandsword. It fits her and I'm a lot happier with it -- especially after reading several of the more recent Rogue Angel books.
