So both Roux and Garin had arrived sometime this evening and she really was surprised that they had managed not to kill each other. Apparently, they were trying to work out some sort of truce since both of them were determined to be there for her graduation.

She thought they were perversely amused about the idea of playing her family and watching her graduate high school for the second time in her life. It wasn't as funny to her.

She had stopped by Sean's room and now the two of them were outside of Roux's hotel room where they were meeting both Roux and Garin. She gave Sean a faint smile and knocked on the door.

"Am I allowed to hope that they're both in there so incredibly dead so we don't have to face them after all?" Sean asked, a distinct hopeful note in his voice.

Yes, Roux had found it extremely amusing. Hey, having been around for as long as he had (and seen what he had seen), one tended to find amusement in the little things. And yes, he and Garin could get through one weekend without trying to kill one another for Annja's sake.

They had gotten along at one time.

Roux had half a mind to make Garin open the door but as they were playing nice, he opened it instead. "For a moment there, I thought you might be avoiding us." There was a bit of a smile and a hello in there somewhere.

[Sorry for the delay!]

"Avoid you, you mean, old man," Garin said from where he sat on the couch -- yes, with drink in hand. Did you really expect to not see him with a drink? Shame on you!

He looked over to Annja and Sean. "Well, don't you two just look too adorable for words?"

Yes, he was going to needle them every chance he got. This was going to be a long weekend.

It took all Sean's considerable Cabal training not to boggle. "My fault, really, I'm the one who insisted on a quickie in the stairwell."

There was a reason they got along so well, after all.

Roux resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Garin. Instead, he just closed the door behind him and contemplated getting a drink. He was attempting to take the higher road. Don't look so shocked.

"You only live once, right?" Well, maybe not so much in their case -- Annja included. She was reliving part of her teenage years, after all. Which was a source of amusement for Roux, if the smile was any indication.

"It's not something I'd have expected of our Annja," Garin said. He looked to Annja and lifted his glass in mock salute. "Here's to you surprising me once again."

Sean just about died of laughter inside at the resultant spittake. "Thankfully she doesn't take after you very much," he said. "She's very much her mother's daughter."

Roux wasn't sure if he should laugh or cringe at the thought of Garin having children. Really, the world might not be able to handle it.

Though, he had to applaud Annja for springing it on him like that. If there was one thing that Roux loved, it was seeing Garin tripped up. "Please tell me this is in a world where I am not around to see it." He was only half- joking.

While it wasn't entirely out of the realm of possibility that he had children running around -- he'd been around for a damn good while, after all -- the idea of any of them having been born recently (which for him counted as the past thirty years) kind of terrified him.

Still wheezing alcohol out of his lungs, he asked, "Where the hell did you meet her?"

"And she spent a good portion of that weekend glued to my side," Sean said. "Face it, Garin, your kid adored me."

He hated the world Shawna came from, was terrified of it... which would be why he was squeezing Annja's hand quickly but tightly.

Roux couldn't help but grin. "She's a smart one, then. Even if she refers to me as grandpa."

But hey, if she was learning things from him then there was no doubt about it. He was a bit surprised he was allowed near the child, but then again given who her mother was, well, he might have just smiled triumphantly at Garin.

Roux would take his victories where he could them.

"That's probably just because I haven't taught her to refer to you as old man yet," Garin retorted. "And believe me, I will."

He looked at Annja. "So did this darling daughter of mine actually tell you anything about herself?"

"And she adored her sisters."

A pause, just to scare Garin.

"Don't worry, the other three are mine."

Roux laughed. Scaring Garin was something he approved of. Nice one, Sean.

"I couldn't fathom what it would be like to have more than one offspring of Garin's running around," he commented, raising an eyebrow. "And I'd prefer grandpa over old man, just so we're clear," Roux added, addressing Garin. He was setting the record straight, in case a time like that actually came to light. Heaven forbid.

"I'll teach her to call you whatever I please, thank you," Garin said archly, taking a sip of his drink and managing to look really quite insulted.

Oh, alcohol. Sweet, sweet alcohol.

Sean took a sip of his drink, not entirely sure he wanted to know what the two men had been up to.

"Oh you know, things here and there," Roux said, smirking over the rim of his glass. "Keeping an ear out for anything of note, that sort of thing." Traipsing around the world was more like it.

"I'm sure Garin has more exciting stories than I."

Garin just shrugged. "I've been up to my usual, more or less."

It was that 'more or less' that should scare people.

"I don't think I want to know," Sean muttered under his breath, taking another sip of his drink.
